4 Mitchell teams compete in the 11th annual Lucky Devils Adult Hockey Tournament – Mitchell Republic

MITCHELL – Four Mitchell teams competed for a championship in the 11th annual Mitchell Lucky Devils Adult Hockey Tournament, held at the Mitchell Activity Center from 8-10 p.m. April.

The four local teams, Upper Midwest Garage Door, Lucky Devils A, Lucky Devils C and Mitchell Mavericks, all played three games in pool games in an attempt to advance to the championship round.

In Division A, the Mitchell Mavericks lost all three games. One of the losses came into the hands of Lucky Devils A, Friday with a score of 9-3. Lucky Devils A managed to pick up another win against Highlife 16-4 on Saturday, but lost its last match in the tournament to Skime Ranch (Fargo) 10-2 on Saturday morning.

Slime Ranch (Fargo) advanced and won the Division A championship over Divergent Ink (Sioux Falls) 7-1.

In Division C, Lucky Devils C also dropped all three of its competitions and lost to Sioux City Mallards 7-2 on Friday, Huron 8-1 on Saturday and ParkingLot People (Sioux Falls) 5-3 on Sunday. ParkingLot People (Sioux Falls) beat Daddies On Ice (Aberdeen) 2-0 in the Division C championship game.

In the division for 35 and older, the Upper Midwest Garage Door managed to beat Black Ice (Minnesota) 4-2 on Saturday night for its only victory in the tournament. Upper Midwest Garage Door lost to Rise Wealth Resources (Sioux Falls) 10-1 on Friday afternoon and lost to final champion Wolverines (Sioux Falls) Friday night 5-1.

Wolverines (Sioux Falls) beat Rise Wealth Resources (Sioux Falls) 4-3 in the 35-plus division championship game on Sunday.
