CAA Tennis Weekly Awards for Men and Women – March 29

RICHMOND, Va. (March 29, 2022) – The CAA announced its weekly men and women tennis award winners on Tuesday. James Madison senior William Karpinski and UNCW doubles the team of sophomore Reece Falck and senior Davide Innocenti achieved men’s honors. On the women’s side, William & Mary senior Mila Saric and the Drexel duo of senior Mya Fuentes and first-year students Lorie Lemongo received awards.

CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
William Karpinski, Sr., James Madison (Potomac, Md.)

Karpinski won 2-0 at No. 2 singles and added a double win to help James Madison to top CAA enemy Drexel and the Navy last weekend. He battled past Drexel’s Alex De Sousa, 7-5, 6-4, as part of a 6-1 team win and followed up with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph against Navy’s Jack McBride as the Dukes defeated the Midshipmen, 5- 2 , on Senior Day. Karpinski and Oscar Hernandez also had a 6-2 victory at No. 3-double against the Navy.

CAA Men’s Tennis Double Hold of the Week

Davide Innocenti, Sr., UNCW (Florence, Italy)


Falck and Innocenti posted a 2-0 record at No. 2 doubles in UNCW’s matches against # 60 Florida Atlantic and # 45 Charlotte last week. The Seahawks’ tandem got the double point against FAU by beating Carrles Sario and Hunter Robbins 6-4. They also locked the double-point for UNCW against Charlotte, defeating Coy Simon and Vasco Prata 6-4. Falck and Innocenti improved to 8-7 this season.

CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

Mila Saric, Sr. William & Mary (Los Cristianos-Arona, Tenerife, Spain)


Saric gathered for a pair of three-set wins at No. 1 singles last week, including her third win of the season over a nationally ranked opponent. The senior defeated Drexels Lorie Lemongo, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 to help the tribe post a 5-2 team triumph over the Dragons. She then hit 80 offth– ranked Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado of VCU, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 in W & M’s narrow 4-3 setback for the Rams. Saric has recorded 20 wins this season and has a mark of 10-3 in the top game.

CAA Women’s Tennis Doubles Hold of the Week

Mya Fuentes, Sr. Drexel (Boca Raton, Fla.)

Lorie Lemongo, Fr., Drexel (Yaounde, Cameroon)


Fuentes and Lemongo recorded a couple of impressive wins at No. 1 doubles to help Drexel earn double points in the matches against William & Mary and Norfolk State last week. The duo beat the tribe’s Mila Saric and Hedda Gurholt 6-2 in a 5-2 setback for W&M. They followed with a 6-3 triumph over NSU’s Amber Fuller and Aleksandra Evdokimova as the Dragons defeated the Spartans, 4-1.
