A summary of Southwest Florida high school sports scores for Tuesday, April 12th.
Class 3A District 13 Tennis
If you have not seen Indi Patel play tennis lately, you may not know how good she is.
The Riverdale sophomore remained undefeated at No. 1 singles this season and advanced to the state tournament without dropping a match in the District 3A-13 tournament at Charlotte High School.
Her 6-0, 6-0 victory Tuesday over Ida Baker’s Kathryne Jones gave her the trip to the States, she missed last season after a disappointing loss in the first round.

“She’s gotten better from last year to this year,” Raiders coach Ryan White said. “She’s gotten better since the start of the season.”
When asked, Patel said she’s playing even better now than she was at the end of the regular season last week. And she does not stop there.

“I practice every day,” Patel said. “Three to four hours. I love it. I’m very excited to get to states.”
The rest of the state’s best tennis players will also get to see her play doubles.
Patel got a bid in doubles with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 with partner Macy Costigan. They beat North Fort Myers’ Hannah Holmes and Sophia Pollard.
Despite this loss, the Red Knights had enough points (16) to take the district title after winning a double and three singles titles on Tuesday. Riverdale finished second in the district with 10 points.
“We hadn’t seen half of our district play, so we did not really know what to expect to get in,” said North coach Leah Meredith. “I just knew my girls were hardworking and ready.”
The North girls won their first district title since 1999. And they did so without their usual No. 1 singles player, Emma Westgate, who did not qualify for the districts after missing out on too much time with a wrist injury.
“We had to change the lineup, which was a little worrying,” Meredith said. “But the girls reinforced it. I did not quite expect to win the district, but I am not surprised. They are such good children and I am really proud of them.”

They advance to the state singles and doubles competition, which takes place in Seminole County 25-27. April.
North Fort Myers picked up 12 points to finish with the highest score, but the Red Knights are not eligible to advance to the regional because they did not have a player signed up for each course. Riverdale beat Cape Coral by one point to take the district title home. These teams advance to the regional competition, which starts on Tuesday.
