BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M men’s tennis team no. 25 hosts Ole Miss at 13.00 (CT) and UTRGV at 18.00 for a Sunday double-header to complete the home plan for 2022 at the Mitchell Tennis Center. The Aggies go into the game 19-10 in the season and 6-3 in league games, while the Rebels have 12-10 in the spring and 2-7 in conference games, and the Vaqueros have 5-14 in the year.
“Last home games of the regular season for our team, so I know they will finish strong,” the head coach Steve Denton said. “It will be a special day for our lone senior, Anish Srineketh, who has been a fantastic leader for our team the last few years. We would like to play our very best tomorrow against a very good Ole Miss team that beat us at. National Indoors in February. I’ll be very interested in seeing how much our team has come up since our first meeting. It should be a good one at Family Weekend; let’s pack Mitchell at 1pm tomorrow! “
The Maroon & White return to action after winning a 7-0 victory at LSU on Friday night. After picking up the double point, A&M conquered five out of six first sets en route to the sweep. Junior Matthis Ross earned the clinch victory against the Tigers, the first in his Maroon & White career.
TEXAS A&M RANKING UPDATE
A & M’s Schachter switched to 80th place in the latest ITA singles rankings as he leads the team with six ranked victories, the most ranked victories in a single season in Schachter’s collegiate career. Guido Marson moved into Wednesday’s edition of the singles placement at No. 104, junior is 12-5 in doubles and owns a few ranked singles wins of the year.
Austin Abbrat and Schachter continues to appear in the doubles rankings, the pair landing as No. 60 this week. The Maroon & White duo have recorded a couple of ranked victories this season, highlighted by an 8-7 result against Finn Bass and Sven Lah from Baylor, who are currently ranked No. 19.
Schachter and other students Know Taylor ranked No. 61 in the doubles poll the first time the duo has achieved a ranking together. The pair have an impressive 12-4 on the top double court and set the team in motion with a trio of ranked victories.
The first 50 fans inside the gates at the Mitchell Tennis Center for Sunday’s match against Ole Miss will receive an A&M bucket hat and a concession voucher for a free pretzel.
Sunday’s match against Ole Miss will feature the return of concessions to the Mitchell Tennis Center. Maui Wowi will be serving smoothies, in addition to other fan-favorite items on the second level of the facility toward the center of the hall. Fans are reminded that no outdoor food or beverages are allowed in Texas A&M athletics facilities. All venues are cashless this season.
Fans are encouraged to stop by the marketing table inside the entrance to the Mitchell Tennis Center, where fans can come in to win free Adidas merchandise, pick up list cards and more.
After selecting Aggie men’s tennis match day this season, student-athletes will be made available for autographs inside the front entrance of the facility. Be sure to stay tuned to meet and greet the Aggies.
SCOUT OLE MISS
The Rebels won a 5-2 victory last Sunday against Mississippi State to get a six-game SEC losing streak. Nr. 32 Nikola Slavic is the sole representative of Ole Miss in the singles events, the other side goes the team with a 14-7 double record and a 7-5 in SEC matches. In doubles, No. 17 Lukas Engelhardt and Finn Reynolds are an impressive 15-2 at the top of the field and 7-1 against league enemies.
Vaqueros challenge the Grand Canyon in Abilene on Saturday before heading to the Brazos Valley. On Friday, UTRGV defeated Seattle 4-3 after a trio of doubles and singles victories by Misha Kvantaliani, Alberto Mello and Chris Lawrence. Kvantaliani and Carlo Izurieta are speeding up the team with seven double singles victories each this spring. Kvantaliani and George Hutchings lead in the doubles, where they go 5-4 on the top double track.

Public admission on a first-come, first-served basis is free for all spectators and Texas A&M students in the second-floor grandstand at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. Seat at the courtyard is available for season ticket holders at the Springer Family Stadium Club.
